Calendars - Favorite Things Fridays

I love calendars so much I start thinking about next year's calendar in June. Crazy? If you saw how many I have, you'd probably think so!

This year, I'm having these fabulous one page calendars printed up. They're 8x10's, and have the whole year printed right on them. Perfect for counting days, quick glances, or just making your cubicle a little less suck. I'll be offering them in our etsy shop featuring both collage-style images and single frame images.

This is where you come in!

The single frame image options are available here. Please give them a gander and let me know which one(s) you like best.

Sure, I have my favorites, but what are yours?

The calendars will go on sale soon and will be premiered with a store wide sale. Be sure to watch this blog to find out when.

PS: Did you know Halloween is my favorite holiday and just about my favorite day of the whole, entire year? It's true! What's your favorite holiday?

Texture

One of my favorite things about Renaissance Faire is the texture. Both tactually and visually, the Faire is filled with beautiful textures.

Damsel in this Dress - Favorite Things Fridays

For this Friday's Favorite Things, I want to give a big shout out to Michelle Thorstrom of Damsel in this Dress.

We weren't in the market this year to purchase a bodice while at the Folsom Renaissance Faire, but we did have a minor mishap while lacing up that morning. It seems that the cord that came with my bodice could not stand up to Meg's, uh, vigorous lacing methods and snapped. Fortunately, Meg is great with both improvisation and knots, so we were able to get out the door in a reasonable amount of time.

While at the Faire, we stopped in at Damsel in this Dress and asked about buying some replacement cord. Michelle not only hooked us up with replacement cording, for free, she did a super quick replacement and lace-up (I'm guessing that's what happens with so much experience under your belt bodice!).

I know it may not seem like all that big of a deal. After all, how much could a few yards of ribbon possibly cost? To me, though, it speaks to a level of customer service that is seriously lacking in a lot of consumer venues. She could have charged us a few dollars and sent us on our way. Considering that my bodice was, clearly, not one of hers, it wouldn't have even seemed particularly out of the ordinary or rude for her to have done so. Instead, she took the time and the resources to fix it back up.

While the customer service was definitely a big bonus, the bodices she creates speak for themselves.

These are not just regular bodices. Michelle not only makes bodices that are more tailored to a woman's actual body, but she takes traditional bodices and combines them with other design elements to make a bodice that's more than just a "foundation piece".

For example: The Vixen Corset with Tails. This is my favorite from her line, and I actually got to paw on this while we were at her shop. This one, in particular, has already sold, but isn't it gorgeous?

I just love her designs and the care she takes in creating them. She's not just out to make a quick and easy bodice, or just something pretty to wear. She's working to make bodices better.

Folsom Renaissance Faire

One of my favorite things is taking pictures of people who aren't aware that you're watching. We went to the Folsom Renaissance Faire this weekend and, over the next two weeks, I'll share some of my favorite moments.

Queen of Queens - Favorite Things Fridays

Heather Has Two Mommies

How cute are Heather and her two mommies?

This is an original acrylic painting done by Michelley QueenofQueens and is available for purchase (still?) here.

What do I like about this painting? Um. They're sea monkeys! A lesbian nuclear family in sea monkeys.

No, not just that.

I love the colors, I love the way the sea monkeys look bright eyed and excited and full of love and do you have any idea how hard that is to convey in acrylic paints and sea monkeys?

Seriously.

Michelley QueenofQueens is one of the founding members of the Queer Etsy Street Team, runs the QueenofQueens etsy shop, as well as a ton of other stuff.

OK, I'll admit it! It makes me tired just thinking about it!
